The 2023 Xiangshan Tourism Summit in Changsha officially kicked off on May 10th, and at the summit, the director of the Tourism Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Song Rui, released the "Global Tourism Economic Trends Report (2023)." The report stated that in 2022, the total number of global tourist arrivals reached 9.57 billion, and global tourism revenue reached $4.6 trillion, respectively, returning to 66.1% and 79.6% compared to 2019. The proportion of global tourism revenue to GDP also recovered to 4.8%, an increase of 0.7% compared to 2021. The report predicts that in 2023, the total number of global tourist arrivals will reach 10.78 billion, and global tourism revenue will reach $5.0 trillion, returning to 74.4% and 86.2% of pre-pandemic levels (2019). The total tourism revenue of the 12 T20 countries will recover to over 90% of pre-pandemic levels.
